For those who are curious, yes, it is possible to hook up a USB keyboard (and mouse!) to the PlayStation 2, though very few games supported such peripherals.
I personally recommend a mouse and keyboard for the crappier parts of Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. Actually, even better: don’t touch that game at all and read this very entertaining Let’s Play of it instead.
